The Spirit

I don't think I liked it as much as Sin City, but it was a lot better than 300. I hated 300.

"IF YOU WERE GROWING ON MY ASS"

"BUZZ'S LIFE SAVINGS"

CLASSIC LINES

Superbad

I think I saw this movie twice in theaters, twice on DVD, and now again on DVD. That's a lot of times!

When I saw this movie the first time, I think I would have almost definitely given it a 10/10. It's lost some of its funny after seeing it so many times, and expecting all of the most memorable lines, but is still hilarious.

A must see movie.

Paprika

I tried to really pay attention to the story this time. I even went back a few times to re-listen to parts where a lot was said quickly. Still, the story here has a lot of confusing aspects, that I'm pretty sure I'm not following.

The whole movie is really well animated, and makes me happy, but the biggest achievement by far is the music. This is easily one of the best film soundtracks ever created. Susumu Hirasawa is a genius. The music is actually the only reason I went back to watch the movie a 2nd time. So most of my points are given for the music!!

I think I liked the movie more watching it in a theater than watching it on youtube. You could feel the music.

Watched this on a TV screen over my head in a restaurant with no sound and captions. From what I saw, and didn't hear, I liked the movie. But, as far as I know, the sound ruins it.

Bolt

needed less formula drama. Stole their drama points from Toy Story 1 and 2. "You are a toy!" is "You're not a superhero." And "You don't know what it's like to be an abandoned toy, owners suck" is "You don't know what it's like to be an abandoned animal, owners suck"

Points for being funnier than I expected though

Sunshine Cleaning

I liked it!!

By doing a google search, there seems to be a lot of actual businesses called Sunshine Cleaning.

Also, there seems to not be a poster for this movie yet, so I made one myself based on what I think it will look like.

viewed at: The Virginia Film Festival, followed by Q&A with writer, Megan Holley and producer, ole' whats his name.
theatrical release: March 13, 2009

Terra

Music was cool, and it was animated kind of cool, but I didn't like any of the characters or the story really. A movie is bad enough when it has one Council of the Elders to answer to, but once a movie has TWO councils, it has crossed the line.

The Darjeeling Limited

Wes Anderson

I think with all of his movies you either really like them or really hate them. So I'll go in the middle to be different.

This movie was nothing more or less than I expected.

Tron

I love the completely authentic moogy Vangelis retro-future style. This movie was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

8/10

Meet The Robinsons

I liked the music and how they made the future look (the buildings looked cool). The story was decent, but the movie wasn't funny at all.

6.5/10

Daft Punk's Electroma

Daft Punk's helmets are undeniably awesome, and always have been, but you can't make a movie where this is all it has going for it. The ENTIRE second half of this movie was the two characters walking through the desert, I was surprised that they could have sat down and watched the finished product and not thought, this is really really boring. Also, it's funny that The Daft Punk Movie has no Daft Punk music.

I like the camera/film/style they used, I liked the music not being a bunch of re-hashed Daft Punk music, I liked how the guy's face looked like a motherboard when he took off the helmet, I liked the white room they went in to turn into humans, and once again I'm absolutely in love with their helmets, other than that this movie was really terrible. They tried to make it seem deep and meaningful, but it just ended up being pretty stupid.

Lost in Translation

The most boring movie I've ever seen, I only got about 3/5ths through it. Unless there is a giant twist after that point, then I think I can safely say this movie is horrible. Terribly, terribly overrated, I don't know what the appeal of it is.

Rotten tomatoes: 95%

Jackass 2.5

I thought Jackass 2.5 was just the name of the special edition dvd for Jackass 2, but it's actually just an hour long documentary about all the stuff they filmed for Jackass 2 but didn't end up putting in the movie. It's got some pretty funny parts, but isn't great. At the end of all the segments someone will usually mention how the bit is only good enough for a dvd extra.

The Royal Tenenbaums

Every single shot was very symmetrical.

Director Wes Anderson seems to have a very distinct style which is easy to point out. All of his films have an indie look, and a mainstream cast.

Human Nature

It was original and had some cool looking parts, but it was kind of boring. Certainly not as good as I was expecting, especially for a Michel Gondry + Charlie Kaufman movie.

"When in doubt, don't ever do what you really want to do" was a good line.

1408

Good! I like how 30 minutes before it's over he wakes up on the beach and you think that it was all a dream, but then he gets put back in the room. Also, when I just watched it the ending was different than how I saw it in theaters. I preferred the one I just saw over the one I saw in the theater, because he ends up being dead and trapped as a ghost in the room, rather than the disappointing ending of him actually getting out of the room alive. I didn't like thinking that when the hour reset, the character would be placed back into a position where the outside world had enough access to him that they could force entry into the room and rescue him.

Why are wireless internet signals and cell phone signals used as such major plot devices in horror films today? I always think it doesn't work. His room seemed to be moving into another dimension, and his door was covered by bricks, and no one could hear him through the walls, but yet the wifi worked? Lame.

OVERALL THOUGH I LIKE THIS MOVIE

Sling Blade

Pretty good. A little too long.

Maybe I'm a bad judge of movies. I'm confused why rotten tomatoes gives this movie a 95% but gives Blow a 55%. Blow was much more entertaining.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Charlie Kaufman is a genius. And I liked all of the cool Michel Gondry style things such as the main guy walking out of Barnes and Noble and straight into the house where he was telling the story.

There were a few plot holes. When people get their memory erased they apparently don't remember the Lacuna company, but at one point the receptionist is talking to someone on the phone and says you can't get the operation done 3 times in one month. Even though this is a pretty funny line, it doesn't really make sense that they would tell people they had had the procedure done before. Also, I didn't understand how the girl in his memory was able to tell him to meet her on the beach in Montauk.

Me And You And Everyone We Know

Had some short interesting scenes, and looked kind of cool, but overall this movie was very boring. Everyone seemed kind of dull and sick, like they all had mono or something. It was kind of like Napoleon Dynamite, minus all of the humor.

I watched this because it was by the screenplay guy who did Being John Malkovich, I didn't realize he was the main character of the movie. I highly recommend this! Very original, but I liked Being John Malkovich more.

And I just realized how clever the title is! AMAZING!

The Dark Knight

I'm surprised how good this movie was, because I don't remember being a huge fan of Batman Begins. It seems like a huge, boring, portion of that movie was just Bruce training in the mountains.

This movie had both Batman villains I am most aware of. It's kind of sad to see that two face is already dead. WHO'S LEFT??? THE RIDDLER?? THAT MUD MONSTER THAT CAN CHANGE INTO PEOPLE???? Or hopefully the penguin.

The Joker was a very good character, I kind of wish they had explained what happened to him at the end though. I WAS KIND OF EXCITED TO SEE HEATH LEDGER DIE.
